My New Project, A Garage Addition

Page Sixteen

Larry is back to finish up the walls. He brought his son Mike along to help. I could barely mix morter fast enough to keep up with the two of them putting up the block. I don't know how Larry has done this kind of work all his life, it is so physicaly demanding it just wears me out. My hat goes off to the man.

That evening and the next day it rained so I had to cover the tops of the walls with the plywood strips I had used for the slab form. I got up in the morning and moved the rest of the extra cinder block and broomed off the slab of all the dirt and water. If I had blocked up where the garage door was going to go, I could change this project into a swimming pool. At least now I know where the water will puddle when I get the floor wet.
