Back in the garage, we got the brake pedal assembly installed.
As well as the power brake booster.
And the master cylinder with all the brake lines hooked up and tight. A little fluid and some pedal pumping and we should have a working brake system.
This was a little bit of a challange. The parking brake assembly did not even come close to fitting. It was a good 1/2" to long. Choices are,, push the fire wall out, or pull the bottom of the dash out. I didn't like either of those options so after mulling it over some. I decide to remove the 1/2" from the flat part of the assembly itself. First, chuck it up in the saw and cut the end off.
Next, make another cut to remove the 1/2" we needed to go away.
Now, weld the two peiced back together....
...and grind the weld down the make it smooth and pretty.
Now, a quick test fit. Works perfect !
A little scuffing, some clear, and you'd be hard pressed to figure this one out after it's installed.
A little scuff and paint on the cluster trim ring and it's ready to go back together.
Looks like we now have a cluster ready to install.
Next on the list is to paint the interior floor with some POR15 paint. Good paint but it ain't cheap.
All done. Let it dry a day or so and we can move on to something else.
